Files still carry the heavy traffic. Price lists, remittance advice, stock snapshots, payroll extracts, nightly ERP exports and partner batches do not belong in an API call, and all of them have to arrive complete, on time and provably. Managed file transfer is how FORTE Technologies runs that traffic: one platform, one set of credentials, one place to look when a file does not turn up.

Transfers run over SFTP, FTPS and AS2, and to cloud object storage where the partner or the platform sits there instead. They are driven by a schedule or by an event: a file landing in a hot folder, an ERP job finishing, a partner dropping a batch overnight. Post-processing does the rest of the work that usually lives in a shell script somewhere — decrypt, rename, checksum, split, move and trigger the downstream job.

Encryption is set per feed rather than per person who built it: PGP on the payload, TLS on the channel, and keys and certificates held in one store with expiry dates tracked ahead of renewal rather than discovered on the morning a transfer stops. AS2 exchanges return MDN receipts, so both sides can show what was sent, what was received and when.

Large files are treated as large files. Checkpoint restart resumes a dropped transfer from where it stopped instead of sending the whole file again, and retention, purge and archive policy is set per partner and per feed so the transfer platform does not quietly turn into a file store nobody can account for.

What We Put In Place

Every feed is defined once — endpoint, credentials, schedule, encryption, post-processing and retention — on the Quadrant integration stack, rather than as a cron job and a script on somebody's server.

Transfers are monitored end to end: a file that arrives late, arrives short or fails to arrive raises an alert before the partner picks up the phone.

A retained record of every transfer — what moved, when, to whom, encrypted how and receipted by whom — is kept for as long as the contract or the regulator requires.
